The Decentralized Paradigm
Decentralized cloud redistributes the centralized power of traditional cloud services across a vast, distributed network of individual computers and servers. Instead of relying on a few major players like Amazon or Google, the decentralized cloud harnesses the computing power, storage, and functionalities of various devices connected across the globe.
ELI5: Imagine a city where only a few grocery stores are available, owned by major chains. Now imagine if every home in that city turned their living room into a small grocery store. The community no longer relies on just a few major stores for their needs; they have a vast, interlinked network of independent stores. That's what decentralized cloud computing brings to the digital realm.
In the realm of decentralized cloud computing, power and resources are not centralized in one place or entity. Instead, they are spread out across a myriad of individual nodes or systems that work collaboratively. It's a shift from the conventional data centers owned by a few major corporations to a more inclusive and participatory system, where many entities contribute to the cloud's infrastructure.
Vision for Vistara: Vistara stands as the backbone of this decentralized computing movement. Envision it as the decentralized operating system or platform. Just as traditional OS enables software to run on centralized hardware, Vistara facilitates various applications and functions on a decentralized infrastructure. It represents the vast sky where numerous stars (in our case, nodes) shine, providing light (resources) from various locations.
Vimana
is your personal aircraft in the vast sky of Vistara. Drawing from ancient tales where Vimanas were mythical flying machines, in the Vistara ecosystem, a Vimana is like an individual's gateway or portal to the decentralized cloud. It's your personal node, your contribution to the network. By running a Vimana, you're not just a passive user of the cloud; you're an active participant, upholding and validating the network.
Decentralized Node Operator: A decentralized node operator can be thought of as the pilot of the Vimana. They take the responsibility of running and maintaining their personal node (Vimana) in the Vistara ecosystem. By being a node runner, you're directly verifying the chain, enhancing its security and scalability. You're an integral part of the verification process, ensuring transactions and operations in the decentralized cloud are authentic and legitimate.
